Papradno

The village of Papradno located on the Papradnianka creek outside the Javorníky Protected Landscape Area. The first mention of the village is from 1525. In the 17th century it was the seat of the Duke of Wallachia. The surroundings of Papradno offer some attractions - crumbling strips of stone ramparts on the mountain promontory of Žilina; prehistoric signaling station on Žiar hill; timbered houses on football boots, which were gradually converted into holiday homes. The beginning of the yellow marked hiking trail, which connects to the blue one leading to the top of Malý Javorník.

The village currently focuses mainly on the development of tourism, especially due to the fact that about 5-7 kilometers from the village is the Javorníky Mountains, belonging to the Kysuce Protected Landscape Area. In the village Podjavorník there is a tourist hotel and a ski lift. There are several marked cycling routes in the vicinity of the village. A large number of wooden houses representing folk architecture have been preserved in the village to this day.
